Archiving Specialist - Government

We are seeking an experienced Archiving Specialist to assist this Government Department with undertaking of appraisal and sentencing work. This role will be well-suited to a records management specialist with a thorough understanding of how a business operates and how to relate records and information to specific business functions and processes.

The roles and responsibilities of this contract role will include:

  • Detailing the current state of records on-site
  • Accurately undertaking records appraisal, boxing, listing and sentencing of complex records in accordance with relevant disposal authorities
  • Undertaking the disposal or transfer of records to off-site storage, in accordance with company procedures
  • Processing all records through TRIM ensuring the system is updated to reflect the current records and their locations within the business. This will include ensuring the accuracy of all metadata and location information associated with the records
  • Raising the awareness of archival principles and practices using a variety of techniques

To be successful in this opportunity, candidates must be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:

  • A sound knowledge of Records Management principles, including retention and disposal
  • Demonstrated significant experience in using TRIM, including specific experience to accurately record appraisal and sentencing activities
  • Demonstrated significant experience in the use and application of State Government and Functional Disposal Authorities
  • Demonstrated experience in the transfer/retrieval of records to/from off-site storage
  • Demonstrated significant in the appraisal and sentencing of records. Applicants should have at least 2-3 years experience in records and information management , the majority of which were specific archiving and/or sentencing roles
  • Experience in managing classifying records as State Records
  • Knowledge and understanding of State Records Act
  • An understanding of all stages of a typical records management lifecycle
  • A high level of organisational, time management and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in the discharge of tasks with a high level of initiative , confidentiality and discretion
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills are required to enable effective liaison with subject matter experts when undertaking appraisal/sentencing activities
