You will be working with one of the worlds most recognisable mining companies on expanding the mine that has a further A$1.78 billion planned to be spent and is scheduled to produce 15 million tonnes of iron ore annually by 2013.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
For assigned contracts the position responsibilities shall include:

• Assists the contract manager in the preparation of the project contract plan.
• Prepares contractual documents as required at every stage of the contract process from prequalification to contract closeout.
• Manages contracts from prequalification through to contract close-out. 
• Reports to the project manager and contracts manager on contract status.
• Reviews all documentation issued to the contractor and advises the project manager and contracts manager where such documentation may result in a contractual impact.
• Assesses, reviews, and advises project manager and contracts manager in respect of contractor claims for variations, progress claims and extensions of time.
• Prepares and manages agreement of contract variations.
• Provides the project manager and contracts manager with updates on contractor performance.
• Assists the contracts manager in the resolution of contract disputes.
• Ensures that all commercial requirements of the contracts are satisfied.
• Is responsible for ensuring that the necessary quality management, expediting, cost management and engineering requirements pertinent to the management of the contract or required to ensure that contract obligations are met.

 SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise.
• Good working knowledge of contract law.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Commerce, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Law).
• 5 years post tertiary education experience in the administration and management of contracts and contractors.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen in the engineering and construction environment.
