Desktop Support Officer

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Desktop Support Officer to secure!
 
As the Desktop Support Officer you will provide technical support of desktop hardware, software, and Information Technology services:

  • To provide the technical administrative functions necessary to develop and maintain the required levels of operational service and resilience for desktop environments.
  • ICT Infrastructure management.
  • Participate in the Voice Services Project team deploying handsets to sites.

This is an excellent opportunity to be responsible for and deliver the following outcomes;

  • Provide expert specialist Desktop administration skills within a support group.
  • Provide Technical knowledge  & skills when required on a project
  • Proactively Support & maintain desktop platform with adherence to ITIL based operational support and delivery processes
  • Operational support processes including the installation and upgrading of hardware and software on PC platforms; problem resolution that may include organising assistance from areas outside of Desktop Support
  • Proactively manage Customer Support requests generated via the Help Desk with an understanding of and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Assist in the formulation, implementation and maintenance of Policies relating to Desktop Support, and development of Operational Plans for budget submission
  • Provide a high level of technical expertise and knowledge to other technical services areas of Information Services
  • To update and continually review QA documentation for desktop hardware and software
  • Proactively support & maintain desktops systems via, ICT asset life cycling initiatives, with adherence to ITIL based operational support and delivery processes.
  • To assist in the formulation and implementation of policies, practices and programmes appropriate to the responsibilities of the position.

To be considered for this role you will need to be comfortable in demonstrating the following preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Appropriate tertiary/computer qualifications (eg MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) or CNA (Certified Novell Administrator) and/or experience in the installation, operation and maintenance of desktop hardware and software
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills, with particular emphasis in the areas of consultation, negotiation, conflict management and assertiveness and the ability to generate written reports and general correspondence
  • Proven ability to work within a team with demonstrable experience in managing multiple tasks, that may have impact beyond the work area, with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise work and resources to reach agreed successful conclusions
  • Demonstrated effective analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to research issues, interpret and analyse information, determine an appropriate course of action, provide sound advice, options or recommendations and review and redevelop systems and services to meet changing organisational needs
  • Experience and/or Certification in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) would be desirable
  • Possession of a current C class Queensland Transport licence with sound knowledge of road rules
