Filipino jobseekers
stand a good chance at a better future in the ‘land down under’ after a
recruitment firm waived the placement fees for Filipinos being deployed
to Australia.
Recruitment agency MAB international Services Inc.
(Mabis) and some of its partner-employers from Australia have agreed to
stop the collection of fees from Australia-bound Filipino workers.
In the Recruitment Agreement contract, it indicated that a prospect
employer entitles Mabis to a payment of “not less than US $400 per
selected worker as processing and recruitment fees for the
pre-selection, documentation and processing in accordance with the
rules and regulations issued by the Department of Labor and Employment
(DOLE)."
“Such payments shall not in any manner be levied on the applicants by
either the legal representative or the employer," the contract further
read.
Aside from this, the contract also stipulates that the employer is
responsible in making sure that the Filipino worker saves up some of
his earnings for his family.
“The employer shall encourage Filipino workers he hires to remit part
or all of his salary to a designated beneficiary in the Philippines,"
the contract states.
Meanwhile, Mabis president and chief executive officer Vilma Burgos
assured that Filipino workers will be entitled to the same benefits as
Australian workers.
"The good thing here is that the selected Filipino workers will have
the privilege to bring their family (spouse and kids) to Australia,"
Burgos further added.
The decision to stop the collection of the placement fees came after a
string of successful talks between Burgos and Barbara Anne Merrigan of
M&M Health Power and Ray Hollis, former Speaker of the Queensland
Parliament.
They agreed upon their strategic alliance in the deployment and recruitment of qualified Filipino workers in the country.
Burgos is a businesswoman and married to Eduardo Burgos Jr., former information attaché of the Philippine Embassy to Australia.
Among the positions being recruited by Mabis for the choice Australian job market include:
Nurses, Pharmacists, IT Systems Managers, IT Software Designers, IT
Systems Designers, IT Systems Programmers, IT Applications and Analyst

6.5 in Reading and Listening, 7 in Writing and Speaking while Skilled
Workers are required to score at least 4.5. - Mark J. Ubalde, GMANews.TV
